Melanin is a natural pigment that gives the skin colour. Exposure to sunlight, hormonal influences, and ageing can increase melanin production and trigger hyperpigmentation. Hyperpigmentation appears as dark circles around the eyes, dark patches, and age spots (also known as sun spots) that make the skin look uneven.

Will this product protect my delicate skin from UV damage?
Eucerin Dark Circle Illuminating Eye Care does not protect skin from the sun. As the sun’s rays are a key contributor to hyperpigmentation it’s important to wear an appropriate sun protection product, even on cloudy days. We recommend that, if you apply Eucerin Dark Circle Illuminating Eye Care in the morning, you follow it with Eucerin Anti-Pigment Day SPF 30 to help fade existing acne marks and protect skin from the sun, thereby reducing further sun-induced pigmentation issues. For intense sun exposure choose a higher protection factor from the Eucerin Sun Protection range.
